[사진] 시놀로지 포토, 구글포토 관련 내용.

이번에 맥을 들이면서 나스를 좀 정리 할까 하면서 사진을 백업했다 다운받았다 하면서 알게된 사실입니다.

 

라이브 포토와 맥 그리고 구글포토

• 대부분의 사진관리 솔루션들은 라이브 포토를 제대로 다루지 못한다.
• 아이폰에서 구글 포토로 라이브 포토를 올렸다가 다운받으면 mp4로 변환된다.
• 맥에서 구글 포토로 라이브 포토를 올리면 heic, mov로 파일이 나눠서 2개로 보인다. ( 즉 라이브 포토가 아니게됨.)
• 그렇게 되면 모션 포토로 변환후 올릴수도 있으나 변환하게 되면 맥에서는 라이브포토로 보이지 않는다.

• 아싸리 무조건 모션포토로 변환후 픽셀가상머신에 구글포토로 올리는 사람도 많은거 같다. (개인적인 의견이지만 이걸 구글이 가만히 나둘거 같지 않다.
• 결국 처음부터 ios 기기로 옮기는것이 최고의 선택.
• 그렇지 않고 파일로 옮기는 어떤 방법도 깔끔하게 처리 되지 않는다. 위 처럼 변환을 하거나 해야되는샘.
• 꼼수로 맥에서 새로운 사진 보관함을 만들고 아이폰과 동기화 시켜보았지만 구글 포토에서 맥의 사진으로 인식하고 업로드가 되지 않음.
• 그리고 맥에서 동기화된 사진은 아이폰에서 삭제 할수 없다.
• 결국 아이폰에 순수하게 저장된 사진만을 구글 포토에 업로드 할수 있다.
• 맥에서 동영상은 에어드랍으로 사진첩에 잘 저장되지만 사진은 jpg,heic로 저장되며 라이브 포토는 오류를 일으킨다. 고로 에어드랍도 안된다.

시놀로지 포토와 아이폰, 백업과 다운로드 사이에서 알게된것

• 나는 백업은 많이 하고 다운로드는 안해봤는데 gif 다운로드시 가끔 오류를 내면서 다운로드가 멈춘다.
• 이는 레딧에서도 언급이 되고 있는걸로 보이며 불완전한 파일 혹은 gif 같은 포맷들이 사진첩에 저장되면서 문제를 일으키는걸로 보인다.
• 아무생각 없이 1만장 정도 다운로드 하려고 하는데 갑자기 5000장 정도 에서 오류를 내고 취소가 되면 어디서 끊겼는지도 모른다.
• 여기서 활용할수 있는게 이번에 업데이트된 아이폰 미러링 으로 시놀로지 포토스에서 다운로드를 걸어두고 맥의 화면 녹화를 사용하면 중간에 어디서 끊겼는지 추적할수 있다. 이거는 근데 앱에서 로그를 볼수 있게 해줘야 되는게 아닌가 싶다.
• 그리고 시놀로지 포토스의 다운로드는 잠금 화면이 되면 네트워크가 끊겨 버려서 종료 되는데 이경우에도 아이폰 미러링은 화면을 켜지 않으니 활용도 면에서 귀찮은 일을 많이 줄여준다.

As I was organizing my NAS after getting a Mac, and backing up and downloading photos, I discovered some facts:

Live Photos, Mac, and Google Photos

• Most photo management solutions don’t handle Live Photos properly.
• If you upload a Live Photo from iPhone to Google Photos and then download it, it gets converted to mp4.
• When uploading a Live Photo from Mac to Google Photos, it appears as two separate files: heic and mov (thus, it’s no longer a Live Photo).
• You could convert it to a Motion Photo before uploading, but then it won’t appear as a Live Photo on Mac.

• It seems many people convert to Motion Photos and upload to Google Photos using a Pixel virtual machine. (In my opinion, Google probably won’t leave this alone for long.)
• Ultimately, transferring directly to an iOS device from the start is the best choice.
• Any other method of transferring files doesn’t handle it cleanly. You need to convert as mentioned above.
• As a workaround, I tried creating a new photo library on Mac and syncing it with iPhone, but Google Photos recognizes it as Mac photos and doesn’t upload.
• Also, photos synced from Mac can’t be deleted on iPhone.
• In the end, only photos purely stored on iPhone can be uploaded to Google Photos.
• On Mac, videos transfer well to the photo album via AirDrop, but photos are saved as jpg/heic, and Live Photos cause errors. So AirDrop doesn’t work either.

Synology Photos and iPhone, lessons learned between backup and download
• I’ve done a lot of backups but not many downloads, and I found that gif downloads sometimes cause errors and stop.
• This seems to be mentioned on Reddit too, apparently caused by incomplete files or formats like gifs being saved to the photo album.
• If you try to download about 10,000 photos without thinking and it suddenly cancels with an error at around 5,000, you don’t know where it stopped.
• Here’s where the newly updated iPhone mirroring can be useful. You can start the download in Synology Photos and use Mac’s screen recording to track where it stopped if interrupted. Though I think the app should allow viewing logs.
• Also, Synology Photos download stops when the screen locks due to network disconnection, but iPhone mirroring doesn’t turn on the screen, so it reduces a lot of hassle in terms of usability.
